Feeling Fresh from Start to Finish: Keys to a Long Lasting Bridal Makeup

The day has finally arrived. You have found the person you will be spending the rest of your life with. Now we need a look can last through the celebration!

We all know how emotional things can get on your special day. Through all of the smiles, laughs, and happy tears you will shed, you want to be certain that your makeup stays in place and ready to slay any camera that comes your way! Here are some of my go-to tips as well as products you can carry with you to ensure a beautiful makeup look that lasts morning to night.

-Skin Prep: Prepping your skin is an absolute must before any makeup is applied. Your makeup artist will apply moisturizer and primer before they get started with the look, but having a clean base is an important step in long lasting makeup. Everything always applies better on a fresh canvas!

-Waterproof Mascara: As a makeup artist working in the bridal industry, waterproof mascara is a must have in my kit. Celebrating the love of you and your soon-to-be husband is a beautiful moment, and more than likely there will be a few times happy tears will fill your eyes. As long as you are wearing a mascara that is waterproof, you will never have to worry about black streaks running down your face!

-Tissues and Setting Powder: Have tissues handy! If you do happen to cry during your ceremony, lightly pat under your eye to catch the tear before it falls down your cheek. Sometimes tears can break down the face makeup leaving clear streaks behind. If this occurs, having a setting powder on hand will fix this right up! Just gently brush over where the tears fell and you are good to go!

~Oil Sheets: If your skin tends to get oily, first make sure to request a bit extra powder while you are in your makeup artist’s chair. But if you find that the oil is breaking through the powder as the day goes on, oil sheets are an amazing product for a quick fix. My personal favorite are by the brand Clean & Clear. They are super convenient, inexpensive, and easy to use; just blot over the area that is oily and you will see the sheet quickly absorb up all of that oil!

~Lip Color: This is always one of the first products to rub off. Through all of the talking, eating and kissing that will take place, it is ideal in my opinion to carry a lip color with you so you can reapply as needed!

~Setting Spray: Your makeup artist will always spray you with setting spray once they are finished with your makeup look. This will finalize the look and lock it in place so that everything is set for as long as you need it to be!

Be sure to ask your makeup artist before leaving the chair if they are able to provide you with samples of any products you would like to touch up throughout the day. We are always happy to give samples, as we put so much effort into making you feel secure and beautiful on YOUR day. Mar & Co. also offers and option to keep a MUA on site with you through the ceremony so that we can touch up anything as needed and you will not have to worry about a thing!
